We spend every day connecting people with technology work. That same respect for technology extends to what happens when a laptop, phone or monitor reaches the end of its life.
For the past 14 years, the AP Professionals Electronics Recycling Program has kept more than 2 tons of electronics out of landfills.
How the drive works
Each November, leading up to America Recycles Day on November 15, we host a recycling drive at our Scottsdale headquarters. Neighbors, consultants, clients and our own team bring in broken, dead or unusable tech: batteries, cords, laptops, tablets, cell phones, monitors, printers, routers and more. If it's tech, it can be recycled.
Everything we collect goes to a certified electronics recycler so it is handled responsibly. If something still works perfectly, we ask that you donate it instead, so it gets a second life.
Protecting your data
Recycling is also a data security decision. Deleting files or formatting a drive does not erase the data underneath, and printers, copiers and network equipment often hold stored information too. Old devices left in an unlocked closet or handed off informally can expose personal, financial or health records.
That is why drive-bearing items are kept in a secure intake bin and sent to our certified electronics recycler for physical shredding, following the NIST SP 800-88 media sanitization standard. If you can, remove internal drives before drop-off, or ask us to have them shredded, and factory-reset phones and tablets. The recycler provides a Certificate of Data Destruction and a scale weight ticket showing the total pounds recycled, so every donation has proof behind it.
How to drop off
Drop-off is open now, Monday through Friday during business hours, up until the recycler's pickup on Friday, November 13. Bring items to our front desk, 4110 N. Scottsdale Rd, Suite 370, Scottsdale, AZ 85251.
Small habits add up. Together we can keep doing our part, one old device at a time.
